THE NATIONAL ANGLICAN CATHOLIC CHURCH of the United States, worships in the Anglican faith and in the Catholic tradition. We are a fellowship of ordained clergy and lay people who serve God by reaching out to those in hospital or hospice or those who are homebound or homeless.
ANGLICAN because, besides The Holy Bible, we use The Book of Common Prayer as our guide to our worship and prayer. The BCP contains our Catechism, Articles of Religion, daily devotions and other things that are important or historical to our church. As with other Anglican and Episcopal churches, we recognize the Archbishop of Canterbury as the spiritual head of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
CATHOLIC because this identifies our relation to the universal Christian church. Catholic is the ancient Greek word which stood for the early church, and ties our dedication to the traditional sacraments; such as the Holy Eucharist, Baptism, Reconciliation and priests ordained in Holy Orders. As Catholics, we hold devotion to certain saints and respect certain days of holy obligation and revere our Blessed Mary, as the Holy Mother of God. We do not however believe the pope to be infallible in his judgements and decrees, and therefore only recognize him as the Bishop of Rome and head of our Roman Catholic brothers and sisters.
NATIONAL because we are a church founded in the United States and committed to the belief that people have prayed for a new church to fulfill that longing that has left so many searching for Christ. We humbly believe God has called our Church to that destiny. We serve as a way for those to find their way back home to Christ, his love and his service!
[The National Anglican Catholic Church is organized under New Jersey State Code, Title 16 (Religious Organizations) Section 16:1-30]
